Keep going

Ever woke up one day and felt your energy was off? Like the odds of that day were stacked against you, everything you were doing was falling out of place like you were on an endless downward spiral. Well I can relate…I woke up this morning with my usual upbeat tempo but couldn’t muster the strength to get up. I felt my insides form knots. Thought to myself “must be the cheese I had the night before”.

You see we as humans function at a particular wavelength, made up of the same materials that constitute all the fundamentals of our universe. That feeling in your gut when you’re by yourself in a strange place, that tingle in your spine when you meet certain people, your heart skipping a beat when you meet that special someone; it’s your universe reacting with another universe functioning on a different wavelength from yours. I think the gut feeling is a heads up from your subconscious to not tread a certain path or to perhaps stay in bed that day.

Needless to say, today wasn’t one of my best days, but you see, that doesn't deter me…On average, we humans are as resilient as it gets. I guess the bottom line is when the going gets tough, the tough get going. I’m going to bed now completely oblivious of what the universe is gonna throw at me but one thing I know for sure is………We move!

Is the Internet evil?

I recently read an article suggesting that the Internet is “evil”. It got me thinking to ask this pertinent question; is it really evil or is it the abuse that is evil? Well in my opinion, if the most harmless of human inventions can be weaponized, how much more something as powerful as the internet.

The Internet is a vast network that virtually connects people all over the world through computers. It helps people to share information and communicate from anywhere and anytime with an Internet connection. The Internet has evolved into an omniscient entity that we humans; young and old, have come to rely on in our everyday endeavors. I can’t over stress its' importance in our everyday lives. Personally, I use the Internet as a makeshift oracle; I consult it for almost everything. It is one of the greatest inventions of the human race. The Internet gives access to an array of diverse topics, perdurable information to as many who seek to quench their insatiable thirst for knowledge. Now, like many human inventions, it has been perverted by unscrupulous elements of our society. As powerful as the Internet is, with endless potential for knowledge and enlightenment, it has been abused and now serves as a backdrop for men of the underworld to perpetrate all sorts of misguided activities ranging from cyber-crime to other heinous activities. They have somehow managed to weaponize this oracle of unlimited knowledge into a tool for their operations.

The usefulness of the internet (or lack of) is a function of the user. Therefore, I would say that the user determines whether the Internet is evil or not depending on what it is being used for.

Music

It is no surprise that many people come out and say they were saved by music. It fills that void within your soul and quenches that insatiable thirst for satisfaction or comprehension. With so many genres to pick from and so many diverse cultures and ethnicity, a person’s taste in music can say quite a lot about them or rather say a lot to them. Music not only serves as a means of expression but also a tool for introspection. Some are crafted and carefully orchestrated so perfectly that they appear to be speaking directly to you because of how much the lyrics resonate with whatever situation/scenario is playing out, others just for the rave. Whatever the reason, at one point or another we’ve all resorted to music as an escape from the harsh reality of life.

Music has come a long way from just instruments and decibels. It is both a weapon and a shield. In the right ears, it can start a war and also end it. Music is arguably one of the most versatile facets of the human experience. It has created a safe space for self expression and serves as an avenue for individuals to explore their creative sides. I guess all I’m saying is whatever it is you’re going through, rough day at work, school life as a whole, take a step back, pop in your headphones and listen to your favorite tunes.

My Trip to America

My journey to America was very amusing to say the slightest. It was stressful and fun. I dealt with many struggles and difficulties at the airport. I'm so glad that I had a safe travel and I'm excited to start living on campus for the first time, making friends with new people, and working towards my goal of becoming a nurse. I will now tell you how my journey was stressful.

I left for the airport very early so that I could check in early. Our flight was delayed for about thirty minutes. Saying goodbye to my parents wasn’t easy. I was in tears and I missed them so much. The masks we were required to wear were uncomfortable, although I understand the importance they hold on the world. Finally, we went on board our flight and flew from Nigeria to Germany, then from Germany to Newark Airport in New Jersey. This is where we were met with more frustrations. After passing through immigration, we went to check in and was told that our flight to Nashville, Tennessee was cancelled. We stayed in New Jersey for two days until we found a connection flight that first flew to Houston, Texas before taking another connection flight to Nashville.

Although I went through all this frustration, I have to admit that I did have some fun while traveling around. When we landed in Newark, New Jersey, we stayed in a Hilton hotel for two days due to our flight being cancelled. I considered visiting Times square in New York due to the proximity to Newark airport. However, I was so tired from my journey that I slept off and didn’t get to do so. I plan to someday visit New York under a more relaxed trip and visit the amazing sites. After we landed in Nashville, my family and I stayed in my brother's house for some days, and I had a lot of fun going to his Church, his office, and eating at a popular restaurant where I had delicious Indian food. After three days, we drove from Nashville to Indiana, passing through Kentucky where I walked into my campus dorm and officially started my Purdue college journey.

This trip was frustrating and fun. It was a bit weird having dealt with all those difficulties, but I can admit that I enjoyed traveling from country to country and state to state. I enjoyed spending time with my brothers in Nashville.
